Job opportunities created in Barrow-In-Furness in engineering sector.
More jobs could be on the cards for a Barrow engineering firm after it was taken over by a Yorkshire-based company. This is great news for the town which, with its ongoing regeneration programme, needs the creation of skilled jobs in fields such as accountancy, finance, law and especially engineering. The town has a rich engineering history, with the shipyards being prominent and well known all over the country.
Agrilek has been bought for an undisclosed sum by large infrastructure support services provider Spice plc. This will built the foundations for growth of the firm and lead to many job vacancies and employment opportunities, be it engineers or even with regards to human resources, accountancy and other areas of business.
Moore and Smalley Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors of Manchester advised the directors of Agrilek, Mr Wood and Mr Postlethwaite, on the sale, which it said will result in “significant investment” in the Barrow Company by its new owner.
Agrilek Ltd of Upper Duke Street, which employs 120 people, is a multi-disciplined engineering company specialising in electrical contracting, power systems, renewable energy, steelwork and mechanical systems. The investment from Spice Ltd is great news for the firm and will without a doubt secure the jobs of current employees, as well as create new opportunities for graduate engineers among others.
