The Lake District is the national park that sits inside the county of Cumbria, the third largest county in England, offering over 900 square miles of diverse landscape, encompassing all the land higher than 3,000 feet above sea level as well as the sixteen largest lakes in England.

A source of inspiration for artists, poets and simple lovers of the countryside for centuries, there is no argument that living in the Lake District provides a sensational quality of life. The lure of the natural history makes it a tourist hotspot with no end of natural and man-made attractions.

However, with the M6 running just beyond the county boundary, it still manages to provide excellent transport and communication links to the major cities of the North West, as well as to Scotland. Even more surprisingly, the county is less than 3 hours, by train, to London Euston. Truly, the best of both worlds!

Despite being largely rural, Cumbria has a number of key conurbations – with Carlisle, Workington and Penrith in the North, Barrow in Furness to the West and Kendal in the South East of the county. And its unique geographical features have drawn many large companies to the area.

The ports at Barrow and Silloth have attracted a significant manufacturing base, particularly, along the west coast – including BAE, Sealy UK and GlaxoSmithKline – as well as global logistics operations, such as Associated British Ports Holdings and the Stobart Group. It is also home to the Sellafield nuclear processing site, the largest private employer in Cumbria.

With such a wealth of successful and wide-ranging employees in the area, the competition for roles in Middle and Senior Management is very high indeed and we regularly see high demand for most roles.
